Are copyright claims something to be worried about?

YTtalk Mad
I have some copyright claims on a couple of my 5 videos. All they state is that I cannot monetize which is fine in itself however I'm feeling uneasy that at the copyright holders whim at some point in the future they could change their mind and remove the video, giving me a strike.

Does that happen often or at all? In the type of video I'm doing it's not really possible to not use some copyright material like game trailers which should fall under fair use but apparently it still copyright id claims them.

How safe am I? Do most YouTubers have some copyright ID claims on their videos if they're doing gaming channels?

you should be safe, but when I got a copyright claim I deleted the video just in case. I am paranoid. What can I say? lol![DOUBLEPOST=1485205587,1485205549][/DOUBLEPOST]

just DO NOT MONETIZE THE VIDEO! Then you should be fine!

So I'm guessing this is coming from the trailers your using. For some crazy reason some Developers copyright their trailers and the only people who can run them have to get in touch directly and request a press pack. Then they get the original trailer as a download.

Seems like they are the ones who miss out on the free advertisement, hut, hey ho.

I never tested it, but maybe rip the trailer off a smaller channel. Not exactly sure how these copyright algorithms work, but maybe that's a way round them?

See as long as you don't monetize it you should be fine. But depending on the content, you might be able to argue it and say it falls under fair use, and regain monetization on the video. But that comes with it's own risks. If you're okay with it being demonetized, then you should be fine. The companies aren't going to come after you specifically to take down the video.

Yeah, the trailers are what's causing me the copyright claims.

I can live with monetizing them, it's the worry of having them taken down or being a strike that worries me more than anything. It is kind of crazy they take away monetization as like you said you're basically advertising their game.

Seems YouTube automatically takes away my right to monetize them as soon as the video is uploaded. I believe they do fall under fair use, they're only parts of game trailers with my voice over them with some editing over them but I don't want to take the risk of appealing and losing the videos.

I know they personally won't go after me but I heard stories from a while ago where a company will suddenly change it's policy from allowing videos just with monetization to simply removing them all automatically for everyone across the board. I don't know how true that is though.

That's quite rare. Even if you are only getting 1000 views, there are hundreds of channels like you if not greater that they would lose supplemental income from. It might not be a lot, but it adds up between all the creator and their videos. Removing copyrighted videos would be a stupid idea on their part.

That's cool, I guess I just wanted to ease my anxiety over that possible fear before I invest more time into my channel.
