Anyone Know How to Blur Background with Canon t3i?

Prank Invasion

I've Got It
Hey Friends,

I have a cannon rebel eos t3i and want to know how to get that great effect some vlogers have when they film where the background is blurry and they are in focus. Does anyone know how to do this or can point me to a tutorial or resource for this?

Thanks a bunch!!!!

PS: I have the 18-55mm lens only…I hope it's possible with that lens.

Its possible but it depends on how much blur you are after, that lens should blur things alright, set the aperture to its largest which I think is f4 when shooting video. If you get your hands on a lens with a larger aperture of say 2.8 you will, notice a big increase in the blur. Make sure you have layers in your video for example a desk behind you or bookcase, as long as there's something there to become blurred it can look good. In other words there's no point blurring the background shooting a video of yourself against a plain white wall :)

you would need a lens with a wide aperature. it allows you to gett a shallower deph of field. with that shallow depth of field that is what blurs the background

I made a short tutorial about that 2 months ago.
You can check it out here: youtu. be/uCctJk9XdCw
If you still have more questions after watching it feel free to ask :)
