Anyone Familiar with Computers? Help!

So, my laptop has been FANTASTIC for all my needs and I've had it for quite a while. It's a Toshiba Satellite L655 and been running everything fine. But, its battery has run its course, and has to be plugged in all the time. Although that's not a huge problem, the keyboard is not functioning right, as well. When I type the H, N, or Y keys it will perform some other function. For H it will type plkh at the beginning of whatever, for N it will type nb/ and then the enter key so that really annoys me, etc. (If there's a fix for this I'd rather know what that is), I want to know if I can find a laptop at about the same performance and hardware specs, or better, and at a good price. Considering the laptop is about 4, 5+ years old and I got it for 600$ and considering I got it for around 600$ and the fact that 600$ laptops now are pretty damn good, you'd think I could find something at around that level or a little better for pretty cheap, right?? I mean, it's almost 2014 and the thing is still running fine, I just need a "clean slate." So if anyone can help me with this and find a good laptop that can do simple video editing, with similar specs, for under 500$, I'd be happa happa. If you need it's specs and can't find them out just based on the general name I can find them and give them to you. Also, I will most likely give some YTtalk cash to anyone who helps me out.

(I found a laptop on Amazon, but I honestly have no idea how it compares. http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satel...orizon/dp/B00D78PZE8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)

Why don't you build a desktop? For 500 dollars you can build a pretty beast rig. I just built a rig for my girlfriend and she was playing borderlands 2 last night on ultra settings. We spent about 500 on her rig.

I don't know much about computers and plus I enjoy the portability. There'd be no where to put it in my house anyways.[DOUBLEPOST=1388527727,1388524451][/DOUBLEPOST]I fixed it, so, I'll end up staying with my computer, yay!

The laptop you found is alright but you can find ones that are much better. The minimum specs that I recommend on a laptop for you would be:
4GB+ Ram
Intel i5 Processor or higher
2.4+ Ghz processor speed
500GB+ Hard Drive
15inch screen or bigger
Dedicated graphics card

Now the graphics card really depends on what you want to do. If you want to play games and record them on your laptop, it would be a better choice to get a dedicated graphics card. Which means it uses some of the ram specifically for games and editing. I actually got a really great laptop for 630$ but considering you want a laptop under 500$, the best I could find are these:

This one is an auction on ebay currently and you might be able to get it at a good price.
Toshiba Satellite c55-A5387

This one is a really good one as well and it's on sale on Amazon.
Acer Aspire E1-571-6837 15.6 Inch Laptop

Hope I helped.

Legendary basically said it all, just look on Newegg for a refurbished and you can get one with all of those specs. If you want a very good graphics card it will be around 700+ refurbished though.

For editing you can get by on a slower computer, under 2.5 ghz and a bad graphics card, you just have to edit your videos in low quality and wait longer for them to render.
