Any tips on endcards?

I've Got It
I'm not sure if they're called "endcards" in YouTube but basically I mean those last images that pop up at the end of a lot of videos, where there are clickable icons for social media, to subscribe, and usually a previous video playing as well -

I get how to make them (have a template image at the end of the video and annotate after uploading to YouTube) but do any of you guys have any tips on how to style them, what makes them more readable, how long to keep them up etc? I want to start using them for my music review series but not sure where to start, lol

I'd say keep them between 10-15 seconds long with some catchy upbeat music. Design wise, it's up to you.

I don't even do this lool most people will click off them pretty quickly so i turned mine down to like 5 seconds to improve the audience retention by a few percent

I tend to talk a lot (even when the actual video ends since I do post commentary) so to make sure that there is no black screen/dead air, I put in my outro while I talk, and also add in a little music in the background. So my outro cards tend to vary with time.

I should probably add that I don't monetize my channel so I don't really care about audience retention figures - does that make a difference to how long it could be...? Although 5-10 seconds sounds about right
