Hello everyone i'm wanting to make a gaming/commentary video i have mic stuff, video editing stuff and now i just need some recording software. I know about obs, I might dive into it but not likely.

I have soundforge which came with movie studio platinum's suite of programs. It's pretty good and can save things as mp4s. It can also do some compressing that works pretty well (don't know much about compression, but it has compression options to choose from). Also I use Audacity. Generally Soundforge is used to open a wav recorded with Audacity to save as an mp4 and compress it.

OBS Studio so far seems to be failproof and also easy on the hardware. Alternatively you may look into Shadowplay if you have an Nvidia GPU

If you're making how to videos Camtasia is best, it has some great features that can be helpful especially for making tutorial videos. And for gaming I recommend OBS it's free but 10x better than any paid recording software!

Oh, you didn't just mean audio. I use xsplit and fraps. I can never get abs to record at the quality I wanted. My Elgato software actually kept screwing me over so I had to switch to xsplit for it. I still use fraps cuz that gets the best quality for me for PC games.

I used to use FRAPS until it stopped recording the screen properly in Windows 10. Now I use Bandicam and have never had a problem. It's just for recording the screen, though.

Active Presider only cost $149 for a very good recording. However the downside is that unless you have a very good computer and not a low end one like a laptop, you might see lag in the videos.

If you want a very good recorder with a low end computer, i recommend "Gameshow" and this software also streams to Youtube gaming, Twitch, and Smachcast.

I want to get an Avermedia card. Some youtubers seem to have amazing clarity to their videos which Fraps still struggles to get me to. I almost can't seem to get Movie Studio Platinum to help without chipping some more image quality off. And I've tried.

If you are going to record your computer screen or computer games I would say Bandicam is one of the best, if not thee best.

I also have the one that puts a chameleon on your screen for a minute. I forgot it's name. Maybe LiteCam? I don't think I ever installed that on the computer I built though :(
