Any experience getting copyright permissions for character use through networks?

Hello!

I have been looking into joining a network because I need copyright permissions to use other peoples characters for costume tutorials. I emailed the Freedom! network to see if that is something they can do, but I got no response.

Do you have experience gaining copyright permission for character use? Do you know of any networks that are good at doing this? I also like that Freedom doesn't have that 2-4 year contract.

hold on a second, you do not need to be in a network to gain characters from artest. all art belongs to thier owners until they become or made it public domain. you need to ask the artist permission to use any kind of character but most common use its called common creditably ( CC ). another fact is that you can buy art and it becomes yours to use but dont make the artist sound evil or else you lose all ownership of that art.

After a quick glance at your channel, you don't generate the amount of views that would make it worth a network's time to try to get permissions for you. Don't take it personally. I was top 20 at Fullscreen doing over 10 million views a month and they didn't do jack for me either.

You shouldn't need a network to help with this. Take gameplay for example. As long as you commentate over top of it it is fair use. Now if you're just uploading the copyrighted material that is different. Same goes for character work.

However, Freedom doesn't do email support anymore. It's a form you have to fill out to submit a ticket. This way it's more organized.
They also have a no lock in contract which means you can leave if you aren't happy with their services.

:) Thank you. I have tried contacting artists. I have just heard that networks have more connections and are more easily able to get the required permissions. :)

I appreciate your input. Thank you for letting me know. I'll have to find other ways to do what I am looking to do until I get enough views to get some help. :)

Alrighty! I will look into the fair use aspect of it. And thanks for the info about Freedom. :)
