Annotations (where to put them?)

Hello,

I am curious to know what are some of the best ways of using Annotations? I currently have a subscribe button and last weeks video as annotations at the end of my videos. Is that the best place to put it? I've seen some have an annotation to last weeks video throughout the entire video or a subscribe button randomly throughout a full video. Does any of these attract anymore clicks than another? I'm afraid if I had an annotation pointing to a previous video during the video people wouldn't watch my videos they would just skip them going to another one.

The annotation going to your previous video should definitely be at the end. Makes the most sense, but I believe the "subscribe" annotation should start early in the video, you never know when someone just watches the first 5 minutes of your video, and then have to leave, but your annotation was at 5 minutes and ten seconds.

I think it depends. Generally in my experience people put the subscribe button and link to previous video at the end. That being said, I think from time to time it's okay to put them in the middle or the beginning. For example:

1) Let's say you made a video with 2 parts. In part 2, it might make sense to say right at the beginning "If you haven't seen pt 1 yet, there's a link on the screen".

2) On occasion you may be able to sneak some subscribe annotations near the middle of your video. 1 creator who does this is Gary Vaynerchuk on his show #AskGaryVee. Good guy to look at to see how that could be done.

Hope this helps!

Yeah I agree with everything he said... I personally keep mine towards the end .

Moved this to the strategy / technique forum. Please try to put your threads in the correct forum, thanks. :)
