Am I overthinking it too much?

Gods of Odds

I'm starting a lore series and for the series I am going to be showing pictures all the way through, of course lots of different picture, but when I am looking for pictures I always think none are suitable but I'm just wondering am i being too picky? Are people really going to care that much about a picture that at maximum they will see for about 10 seconds (it will usually be less)? Also if you do any videos that have been mostly pictures then how long do you show each picture for? Of course I am going to be talking all the way through the video too.

Picture video? I allways hate them... You must have really good pics and really good voice and topic in order to make me like a video like that.

Your best bet is to simply think to yourself,

"What would I enjoy watching?"

The chances are, if you are making a video of this type you have probably seen a few prior. What did you like about the ones you have previously seen? Creating a side and putting yourself in the shoes of the audience, what would you be looking for in a video such as this?

Make the video for yourself, not what you think people want. Following this, if you are happy with it, it's likely others who have similar interests will be too.

Thanks for the reply. Also I'm more doing to pictures only because ShoddyCast did it with their Elder scrolls lore series and that has worked out very well for them and I have seen lots of picture only videos that do very well.

Are you going to be talking with them? Could you possibly draw them? Or have a friend draw them? Might make it a little more special and more time consuming. It could be a great part of your video where, you could start it with a time lapse of it being drawn.

If i wasn't the worse drawer ever then maybe.

Do you have a friend that can draw? That you could ask?
Nope, it's just me and my girlfriend, we have thought about learning how to do animation but we really don't have time for that as we are sort of in a rush to just get this started. We have very high hopes in this lore series that we're doing, for personal reasons we sort of need it to work.

I would say that if the pictures were relevant to what you were saying, or funny, or interesting in their own right, then yes, being aware of what pictures you're choosing is something to spend some time on. However, think about ways in which pictures that you may not think suits what you're saying could be used anyway...maybe you contrast something you say with a picture of something that's clearly ridiculous, or funny, or old fashioned when you're talking about something new. There are a lot of ways of making images work with what you do.

Thanks for the reply, I have been thinking about it for a few months now and I have been learning a lot.
