Am I allowed?

I've been following some grown youtubers. I've been watching some of their videos and noticed that they had used some small segments of a song, from artists. I'm talking about a slight second to 3 or 4. Is that even allowed?

I want to do that as well, but don't know I even should.
If any music is used from an artist do I have to credit them, in order to use it, or that's just not allowed at all?

Sorry guys, I'm really new, these questions probably sound silly to you.

No, it's not allowed unless you're willing to pay for the required rights to do so.

If the music is found to be used (either via the automated Content ID or by someone manually), the owner of the music will likely monetize your video and take full earnings, forbid your video from possibly being shown in select countries, or both.

Plus side, you won't get a copyright strike. Down side, your videos will have ads, but you won't receive any of the money earned.

You are allowed to use copyrighted material but only if you comment on it, critize it, make a parody of it, or just show it for educational purposes. It's called Fair Use. You should do some research on that before you start making some videos with copyrighted material. There are some good articles on google and youtube tutorials that will explain a lot about it.

Thanks for the feedback guys! much appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Royalty-free music from a site is okay to use. As long as you credit where it come from?

Yes, royalty free music can be used. Mostly you can just go their website to see what their demands are for using it. Mostly they just want you to credit them, but definitly make sure
you know excactly what they want.
