Alternatives to the Audio Technica ATR-3350

Hi all,

I am looking for a lavalier microphone which can be used in conjunction with a Zoom H1 to record conversations in an outdoors environment.

The Audio Technica ATR-3350 seems to be a commonly used mic for things like this, but the reviews of this thing are pretty dire.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what microphone could be used instead? Obviously I'm looking at the low end of the price scale.

Anyway, thanks, look forward to your responses. Any insight is helpful

Honestly, Audio-Technica's products are amazing.. I'd probably suggest going with them.

The main thing that puts me off is the fact that it will run out of battery without warning and there is no way to tell how much battery is left, or even if the thing is dead.

You're not really going to get much better than the AT-3350, unless you're willing to go with bigger mics and not clip ons.

You raise a valid point. I'll have a quick search around on Amazon for something for you. Any price range in particular? I'll try to keeptot under $50 USD[DOUBLEPOST=1394468064,1394467934][/DOUBLEPOST]How does this look? Seems to be suitable, not sure about it quality-wise but I believe there is a light indicating the power levels.

Thanks, I need to go for a clip on really! I think the quality will probably be enough for my purposes

That's awesome thanks, will definitely look into it. I don't need it to be wireless though, as I am recording separate audio+video anyway.

Seeing as the audio technica is so cheap anyway I'm probably being daft by hesitating over it; I'm sure I'll have some use for it!

Thanks for having a look on amazon anyway. I've been doing so myself quite a lot, but obviously there is so much out there it's difficult to filter out the best!

That's a pretty terrible one, wireless lav mics are pretty much all garbage for under 100-200 dollars

I did mention I wasn't to sure about quality wise. He was just looking for cheap options, so I suggested one. Haha.

Personally I'd go with the Audio-Technica one.
I know, I'm just saying what the quality is like ^n^
Audio Technica are pretty great
