alternative video editing softwares other than After effects & Imovie?

Hey!

Okay, so I hae had Youtube for nearly 3 years now and have been more into it the past year and a half. I've done a lot more videos howeer, i reallyw wanted to see what other good ideo editing softwares there other than After Effects and Imovie something which isn't too difficut.
I tried using after effects, it's okay however it's confusing at times and takes up wayyy too much memory on my laptop. I would love to have a MAC laptop but noooo.

Anyways my question is: What other sotwares are there which offer range of effects like the ones where you can have a four split screen in one or where you can do mirror effects and more. I don't want it to be too complicated or too simple. I've searched and i'm just so tired of getting no where because they aren't what i want!
 
If you're editing a full video not just like little 1-30 second clips or making small adjustments to a video (colour correction, video FXs ECT.) you have NO need to be using After Effects.. Adobe Premiere Pro is the video editing software, after effects (hints in the name..) is for adding effects in afterwards and such.

I would try out;
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Song Vegas Pro
  • Final Cut Pro (Mac)
these are the main ones people with big budgets (or ways to get software for free) use.
 
After effects isn't really for video editing. More for vfx in certain scenes.

I hear about corel studio or something like that on hear but never used it before. I use Sony Vegas personally. I think that if you have the money, a lower end Sony Vegas or adobe premiere is something worth investing in for what you're looking for.

Your main problem seems to be that neither one of the programs you mentioned are video editors. One is a visual effects tool used after editing. The other is... well... iMovie...

Duh Final Cut Pro 7 or X they are the best if you have a mac. For windows i recomend sony vegas or adobe premier :) have fun bro!~
 
Final Cut Pro X - it's now a natural progression from iMovie so you'll be able to pick it up pretty easily. ;)
