Affect Effects or Premiere Pro?

I've Got It
Hello there, I've been making videos for some time now but recently started over close to a month ago with a new direction for my videos, and right now, I use Sony Vegas Pro 12 for my editing, but I see After Effects and other editing programs people use and I saw Affect Effects and Premiere Pro as a couple of choices, which one is actually better for editing?

If anyone can help me out here, that would be fantastic!! Thank you!

Premiere Pro is probably one of the most used editors, if you're just doing straight up editing. After Effects is more for like graphics and graphical effects stuff. So I'd say Premiere Pro. It's what we use to edit, it's great.

Well, After Effects and Premiere are two very different editing programs :) They're both great, though! If you're wanting a program for standard video editing like Sony Vegas, Final Cut, etc, then definitely get Premiere. It's very user friendly and very manual so you can get exactly what you want when editing your videos.

After Effects, however, is for special effects. I'm talkin' meteors, super powers (flame balls, airbending, shockwave guns), that kinds of stuff. Also, the very complex and animated titles you may see around YouTube around made using After Effects as well.

So for standard editing, yes, go with Premiere.
For SFX, go with After Effects.

Hope this helped :)

I would say if you interested got premier pro as it's good with making what you want etc and easy to use for editing video along with similar applications as Sony Vegas but After Effects is really SFX as it already been stated and Intro/outro for videos.

I really enjoy Premiere Pro :) It doesn't take long to get used to it at all. I just watch a few youtube video tutorials that were pretty quick and I had the basics down. There is alot more I could probably do with it but for what i want I know enough for now.

Just as a side note, I was doing all my YouTube videos with After Effects. It was a very long way of doing things but it helped me to learn the in's and out's a lot better. I recently (2 videos ago) switched to Premiere Pro and have really noticed the difference. I will usually shoot 10 minutes at a time and do a few takes, so in Adobe Premiere Pro I import the video and can grab sections from that video with a live preview (can't do that in After Effects). The next thing I can do is after I have finished the full length of the video, I can send all the audio to Adobe Audition so I can make it all the same level and apply any filters or noise gates to remove background noise. Save in Audition and it is automatically changed in Premiere (it actually saves seperate audio files for what you just edited so you always have access to your original audio). So, if you can afford it, go for the Creative Cloud subscription and you'll have all three (plus more) programs to use for your videos.

She basically said everything about those two softwares, it depends what you need in the video. But i must say that After Effects it's very hard to learn and complex, you gonna need to watch a lot of tutorials.
