Advice for filming in public

Internet Idiot who loves making people laugh
Hey guys!
Tomorrow I am going to do my first proper video that will be filmed outside in public, by this i mean actually talking to the camera in public.

I am pretty nervous about it as I am one of these people who has a massive fear of being judged and looking stupid, but i want to do this video so im gonna do it anyway, as it is the kind of thing you have to do outside, also youtube is the kind of thing sometimes you have to leave your comfort zone to progress and i want to learn to be able to do this

To be fair the areas won't be that busy, but a couple of people may still be around, to those who do this often how do you get through it, especially when doing it when completely on your own?

Wrestle anyone to the ground that says anything to show your dominance.

That means anyone. Police. Military. The President.

Show them your Kimura Lock and they will back away trust me

Just be as relaxed as you can, and if anyone asks about you filming, say that you're making a YouTube video. It's amazing how supportive people can be when they know you're doing something like that. My partner and I tend to film the George series in public every once in a while (which are two puppets), so we've gotten used to stares pretty quickly.

It may be helpful to have someone come along with you, as your camera person. That way, you also have some moral support and aren't filming all alone. Good luck!

I've moved this to the strategies and technique advice forum. ^^

People are going to stop and stare, but just pretend they aren't there. Focus on staring at the camera lens -- it really blocks out the staring people. If you have a tripod and are setting things up, a lot of people might ask "do you need your picture taken?" (at least they do when I am setting stuff up...this might be an American culture thing though. We're big on a lot of fluffy small talk), and that's a good time to be nice and explain that you are making a video for YouTube. A lot of people are like, "Oh cool! I want to see!" and then, if you feel comfortable, you can give them your channel name. After all of that, it's a lot easier to film a little more confidently. ^^

I know exactly what you mean lol, but honestly who cares, they might think you're weird or w/e judge you and crap but really WHO CARES! If your YouTube fans will love it then those people can s*ck it. Some people may not even care you know. You don't need to explain to them Oh I'm doing a YT video, they may think it's weird because they don't have the courage to do it themselves so they judge other people. But just do it for you, because at the end of the day, they're not going to be there for you (meaning they don't matter at all). Practice makes perfect so if you're shy at first just keep doing it.

We try to film early in the morning, or at locations where there are not many people.
Kids playing with toys usually attracts other kids, so there's all the legal issues about showing kids in YouTube videos that are monetized without their parents' permission and disclaimers.
So ye, for us, we find locations clear of kids, usually early morning. We're usually first ones in the door at the playcentre, or in a corner of the playground.
If I have to film, like Toys R Us, I cut the head off the person. Like at checkout, you can see the body of the checkout person, but not the face.
Another technique is close up of yourself, so the people in the background are fuzzy out of focus.

Hey guys thanks for all your advice!. I decided to film it today instead of my original plan of Saturday as most people are at work and school so I'm hoping it will be quiet! But it is however very hot and I will be carrying around my big bulky camera I hope it works out haha!

Best case scenario; you can talk to any lookie loos and make them followers. Talk about how much fun you have doing what you do and they can check you out on YouTube!

hey guys i managed it today and im editing it now, the video could have gone better but i think it is pretty decent despite my nerves, thanks everyone for your advice :)
