Advice for an inconsistent YouTuber

My question to you would be why do you all of the sudden want to get back into things?

Also, what's holding you back from making videos? Usually there's something more behind lack of motivation. For example, I remember when I first started making videos, I would often feel un-motivated to make videos because:

1) I still felt awkward in front of the camera

2) I was afraid that I would be judged by people who saw my videos

3) I was afraid that my channel would fail & I'd end up quitting

So you see, often times the excuse "I'm lacking motivation" is really surface level thinking, and there sometimes is a lot more behind it. If you can find out what the real reasons are, (and post them in this forum if you want) then we can start to get somewhere :)

PS - on another note, if you're lacking motivation it also could just mean that you're just not super interested in making videos, in which case I'd recommend that you don't go back to your channel. Your audience will be able to tell that you're just not that interested.

No advice... You have to like doing YouTube. It is a great hobby, but one that takes time... too much at times. You have to like it a lot to put up with the grind... It also depends on the type of videos you do. Mine can be very edit intensive. And that is very counter productive when you have a 40 hour workweek and kids... I slowed down. But I am not gone. Because I love the hobby! So one/two video/s a week? Sometimes none? It'll have to do. My subscribers know I am a busy dude. And YouTube doesn't pay the bills, so... bla bla bla ;)

You may want to consider another genre or complete change from what you planned to do with your channel. If you are having trouble getting motivated to make videos, then you may not have the passion you would want to have to be consistent in the future. Hope you are able to work things out!

As others have said, try something different that you feel passionate about. We were very inconsistent for our first 5 years, only doing videos in short bursts here and there. Once we figured out what we wanted to do on a regular basis, we have had no problem staying motivated!

If you are not motivated to do it maybe youtube is not your thing. I recently started and don't know how long i will keep it up. This is the main reason why I haven't shared my videos yet. If you have fun making the videos, no matter which feedback you get, keep it up. Otherwise you might want to think about why you want to do youtube videos...
