Hello,
so my first Advanced Warfare Story Gameplay video was taken off Youtube. Activision blocked it. This seems obvious, considering I don't own the rights to the Game. But when I acknowledge that the video content doesn't belong to me, I can watch it again on youtube. Does anyone know what that means? And if it helps, I do not monetarize any of my videos.

It means they're letting you keep it up as long as you acknowledge the content doesn't belong to you.

That means it's not globally blocked, otherwise you'll get a strike. And if you ever monetize it, then the revenue goes to them.

I got the same issue. Got a copyright claim on first episode. I disputed it with fair usage policy and my video is back up (FOR NOW). But just wondering if this is what YouTube calls a copyright strike? I think if you get 3 strikes then your account will get suspended. Or is this just a copyright claim?

The reason I think that this is NOT a strike because a strike has a limited time period before it expires. There is no time period here under the copyright claims or video manager. Account shows that it is in a good standing. Can someone shed some more light on the subject please?

If you get a strike, they will tell you.

Content matches are merely an indicator that someone else owns that content. Either you have the rights or permissions to use it, or you don't. If your dispute was successful, then you're fine.

Thank god for that. I was kind of freaking out. Last thing I need is a strike on my channel because I heard somewhere that YouTube is going to tighten this policy starting early next year. Anyway, I was googling again and found this on a Google support page itself.

Appeal a strike

  1. Visit your Channel Settings.
  2. Click the arrow next to the Community Guidelines section to show your strikes.
  3. Click Appeal this decision link as shown below.

This answered my question. Activision just claimed copyright. It wasn't a strike or anything because I didn't have that arrow next to COMMUNITY GUIDELINES either before or after claiming the dispute.

Do you think they will listen to the fair use policy? As a lot of other YouTubers have their videos up totally fine. Cheers for the help by the way. :)
