Adsense paying way less?

Any other full time YouTubers out there (or those who have been around for a few years to compare, even just last year to this one-- you don't ness have to be full time!), notice that the payout of Adsense is so much much lower than it used to be? My views and subscribers have more than doubled since this time last year, and my monthly check is about the same if not a little lower than it was last year.

What gives? I feel like we should be out of the January slump by now. I've done more brand integration because of this. Fortunately, I've been able to work with brands who are truly genuine fits and my audience also loves them, but those are not always available. It would be very hard to make a living just on Adsense alone. You would need consistent viral videos.

What are your thoughts?

here it is my crazy analysis

1 - Financial crisis
2 - low oil prices
3 - low advertisers money

1,2&3 makes low ad-sense income :meh2:

To add to that. We get paid a percentage of what the advertiser is paying. So probably depends what kind of channel you have and how competitive the market is for the category your channel is in. I would assume political related are doing very well right now due to the election, driving up ad prices. Or maybe not just politic related but if your viewers fit a desired demographic for political ad spending. Probably good ad rates right now.

Is the financial crisis still here, shouldn´t most countries be out of it by now?

That is only in US advertising market because of the election. Financial crisis is a global issue and because all places in our world are connected, i believe the crisis still there moving from one place to another .. Some articles mentioned that China's economic collapsed some percentage this year. Low oil prices can drive up some economics in some countries but it also drive down oil-based economics like Russia.

Advertising market is also a global market.

It is in broad economic terms. But if you pay for advertising on google youre usually using adwords. And for adwords youre usually competing against other advertisers for keyword advertising or some subcategory. There are channels unaffected by a slowing down of world economy like the politics example for an american audience. I have a toy unboxing channel and were getting about $1 for every 1,000 views which i think is standard. car sales have done well last year. Maybe they auto industry is still spending on ads. Anyways everything is segmented. Hard to know for sure without more info on the channel.

Also dont forget that it depends also on the location of your viewers and subscribers because overseas subscribers have different advertisements based on their different locations.

In general, you are the one who will decide which type of ads that will compete in your channel content. if you choose your videos-keywords from google adwords that have high or medium competition, then you will have high number of advertisers that will be able to compete in your ads-auction which means high revenue.

Thanks for sharing your insights. I have a lifestyle channel, mainly 25-35 age range (80% women). Not sure how that affects advertising for me-- I would assume that's actually pretty high-target for a lot of advertisers, but maybe not. YT audience is much younger by in large.
