i want to get an adsence account not for my youtube channel, partly because i dont have one , but so i can put adverts on my tumblr account as i have 25k followers and feel i could make a tiny bit of money from it if i leave it for like 6 months - year then maybe ill reach enough to get to the payment threshold, but can i sign up to adsense using a random youtube account just so i get accepted for it? because once youve got adsense you can put ads where you want ie tumblr, because the only other way was getting a custom domain for tumblr and sign up to adsense that way which is something i dont want to do

I believe you can do just that. Just double check to make sure that there aren't any regulations or guidelines that say that you need a domain name in order to place ads. I'm pretty sure you do not (I took a cursory look at the guidelines), but I don't want to steer you wrong. Good luck.
