Adobe: Premiere or After Effects?

The Boy Who Was Named After An Animal
I'm looking to film simple cinematic film with my Canon 600D (t3i to North Americans).

I'm an amateur at photography/cinematography and I only have two lens at the moment (kit standard, and 55-250m zooming lens).

What are the uses for each software? (Premiere and After Effects). Thanks.

I use both, because it depends on what you're doing. Premiere is for editing, and After Effects is for compositing, more for like special-effects. :D

Premier is more basic editing, transitions , colour corrections etc
After Effects is more adding in effects like text, flares, explosions, fires, gun shots etc

Well Premiere is Primarily an Editing Software... and After Effects is used for doing FX... you usually use them together. When I do editing for shorts and docs I would edit first in AVID, FCP or Premiere.. then export it to AE to add effects or color correct or any number of things.. I know some people try to edit in AE but I have found it to be very cumbersome as that is not it's primary use.

I like both. I usually edit it all in AE (effects + color corrects, etc.) then move all the precomposed clips to Premiere and render there

Pretty much all the above, although you can add text effects etc in Premiere. Only use After Effects if you need to add CG and such :) Otherwise Premiere should be more than enough

I like this camera so much infect I have canon 600d. Key Features of this camera is 3 inch TFT Color LCD Screen, 18 Megapixel Camera, Full HD Recording, CMOS Image Sensor, Focal Length: 18 - 55 mm.
