adding music

I want to add music to my video.When I tried it the sound from the drone on the video could still be heard.How do I add the music and do away with the other sounds

I guess to start, what video editing software do you use? I use Sony Vegas/Movie Studio, and it's relatively easy to delete and adjust an audio channel if need be.

I wasnt using any

You need to bring the video into a video editing app. Put the video on the timeline and mute / delete its audio. Then import your music track and place it in the audio track under the video. You can then export the video from the app. Take a quick look on Youtube for video editing basics and it should become clear.
