Add as contact. Accept or Ignore?

I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the correct section of the forms but oh well...

So people who I don't know are adding me as contacts and no, they aren't subscribers. I mean, it's not a bad thing. I just want to clear things up.. what exactly does it mean to have someone as a contact? Should I accept even if i don't know them. I've been presuming that it's like facebook. Accept if known, if unknown decline.
 
Sweety, I have no idea. I probably have like 300 contacts by now, I get more contacts than subscribers, yet I don't think I've spoken to any of them. Maybe we should message them and say "hey you added me as a contact, what's up" or something, might gain subs from it, who knows.
 
It's a way of spamming you inbox with their videos. You could do the same. Add them as contacts and send'em a msg back with your video(s). You never know who clicks on it and likes you stuff. A click away to be your subscriber. But I really don't think there's any other use of contacts...in YouTubeland.

I did not know that, so I guess really, there's no need to add them. They aren't interested in you, they're trying to get you interested in them...

When someone really wants to get in touch with you.. normally they'll look for FB/Google +/Twitter etc. on you YouTube channel. That's what I really think. I've never had anyone sending me a add as a contact request and I happen to know'em. It's always them spammers.
 
Thank you everyone. :) Hmm.. I guess it is spam then. I'll just keep it as a note to myself to add only friends as a contact.

@rizzwizz and @paskyskiess haha. If only I had the time to send messages and spam others.
 
Yep I've had a lot of randoms add me as contacts and they haven't subscribed to my channel. Annoying thing is even those who aren't contacts are sending me messages to check out their videos.

Great idea, I'll reply those people and send a video of mine too ;)
 
I always accept users trying to add me on YT and I myself add atleast 5 users per day for video promotion purposes. There's 60% chance that they'll watch the video you sent as long as the title is good. :) (and I just made that up but it is tested and proven. Haha)
