A Serious Film For A YouTube Collaboration?

Oh hai,

So, I posted the message of what I want to do in the "Collaboration" section, but I wanted to actually give the script theme a go here. So, I have this idea that users can create videos on YouTube with other users, big and small, working together! I'm creating a film project where I would like to get together and work with as many YouTubers as possible to bring the "YouTube Family" closer together, and I'm at the final reviewing part of the script. For an example, I am aiming to get users like Shane Dawson and Epic Meal Time to work along side with users that are barely even known on YouTube for an awesome film! I'm not doing this for myself by any means; I'm doing this for the YouTube community. I wanted the film I am making to be a serious film, even though I am aiming to have some comedians and funny users in there at some point if possible. Do you guys think that would be a good idea, to have something like this be a serious film? Or should it have some humor in it? This would be my first actual film, with a script as well. So I want to try to leave a mark with this, especially if my YouTube Collaboration messages reaches certain people.

sound like a good idea...the only thing is getting the "popular" kids to think its a good idea! lol
 
Sounds like a great idea, though when you say serious do you mean like a heavy dramatic film? Because I think if your going to have some youtube comedians in it, it should at least be light hearted, if not a comedy. But like i said either way it is still a great idea, but yea it would be hard to get the more popular youtubers involved in this :(

I do have an idea pertaining to this that could help raise awareness for this mass scale collab though :D


Basically something like that, though it doesn't have to be a song, with as maaaaany youtubers as you can get in. it could be scripted or each youtuber could just say what they think about your idea, i dont know yet but, it would definitely get you one step closer to this goal your aiming for.

I mean if 20 people like me, who have about 30 subscribers, were in it and showcased it on their channel, that would already be 600 people seeing it and i know that most of the channels i see around that would be interested in this have more than 30 subs, so lotsa people could see this and then if it got enough views, so would the bigger youtubers, who may get interested. oh anyway went on a bit longer than i meant to there but let me know what you think. :D
 
That idea sounds smart, man. It really does. My idea is to get some YouTubers 100% dedicated to this project. After that, send them the script and give them an idea of what part I would want them to be in, or what one THEY would want to do. Then, figure out days where we could meet up if they live in the area, or make travel plans to get them out to Portland, OR for this project. The film, so far, is panning out to kind of be a teen humor, pop culture, love story type of script. It's kind of hard to explain without posting the script.

sounds really awesome dude but would be very difficult for me to get to portland lmao i am like 10hours away by plane xD

Since you are collaborating on video productions as well as the script writing process, you may want to check StarsVu the only online application that integrated collaboration + video editing + script writing.

Creating a film about the YouTube community is great. I have a couple of questions though. What exactly is the specific message that you're hoping to send? I'm asking because it could ultimately help give you direction in what you want to do with the project.

I'm interested in helping out. I've written a screenplays before (all of them for school, but my mentors were legit screenwriters who said my stuff was "produce-able"). I'm wondering how you are planning to mesh "big" and "small." I'd love to find out more about the story you're planning.
