A question about collaboration. Not asking for such. Wanting to input on such.

YTtalk Mad
I am in the development stage for a YouTube game show. Sorry, but until the first episode is released, I don't want to give too much details about it. What I want to discuss here is how my show could help promote other YouTube shows.

On each episode of my game show, there will be two contestants competing against each other. The game show host (moi) will do a very short interview with each contestant. This "get to know the contestant" stuff is typical fare on any game show. If done in a certain way, these "interviews" can set someone up to do a quick plug for their movie, book, radio talk show, or YouTube show. "Our challenger today is Jane Smith who has her own YouTube show called Quilting with Your Butt. Jane, could you tell our audience and viewers a little about your show?" After her short plug, "That's great. Viewers at home, if you want to check out her show, there is a link to it in this video's description below."

The current plan is to film a month's worth of episodes on one Sunday each month and in a different city each month. All the contestants will then be from that city and surrounding area. The one of the goals for doing this is to get on as contestants local celebrities and media types, such as radio talk show hosts, radio DJs, TV newscast anchors, newspaper editors, politicians, authors, AND on-camera hosts of YouTube shows.

What I am wondering is how best to go about finding and contacting local on-camera YouTube hosts about the show coming to their city so I can inquire if they would like to come on as one of its contestants. Being a long-time marketer, I don't subscribe to the Field of Dreams philosophy of "If you build it, they will come." Even if my YT game show was the Number One YT show, I would still not adopt such an approach. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a website or a YouTube webpage that tells which YT creators are in which cities. To say nothing about how to best contact them. Yes, there is this forum here but I want to reach as many as possible and not just those lucky enough to stumble across this forum.

So does anyone have an idea on how I can best go about finding and then contacting YT creators in the cities I visit with the show?

Thanks in advance!

Actually, I found quite a few results listed on Socialblade.com and just Googling "Youtuber in 'insert location here'." It ended up working well. Also try searching fro YouTube groups on Google+ & Facebook, then narrows results down to the cities you are interested in.

Thanks for the tip. Though I am hoping against hope that someone knows of a website dedicated to the desired function.

And it seems odd that YouTube doesn't tell us this. Wouldn't such a thing make for at least an interesting map of the world? Something that everyone might have fun zooming into their city and other cities to see which YT shows originate where.

Not sure why that type of site doesn't exist. I think part of me assumed it did and I just couldn't find it. But yeah, if you type in the area you plan to head to in Facebook followed by something like "talent" you can probably find a starting point. Depending on how deep a pool of contestants you are looking for, the collaborations forum here might actually serve you well if you do a casting call each month announcing where you are heading to next. Good luck! :thumbsup2:

My thoughts precisely. Hopefully someone here will know that it does exist and give a link to it.

I might just do that.

Tentatively, my plan is to fill in the remaining vacant contestant slots with on-camera YT hosts after I've brought on board all the other local celebrity and media types (radio talk show hosts, TV newscast anchors, etc.) that I can bring in. These other types are much more limited in number and will enable me to reach out beyond the Internet to hopefully bring new viewers to YouTube by appearing on their radio/TV shows, in their newspapers, or, in the case of local politicians, by them sending out "Hey, I'm on this game show!" emails to their supporters. As for which YT hosts will be picked over which YT hosts when such will be selected, all things being equal, it will probably come down to which is the most popular (most subscribers and/or highest average views of their videos). But not all things will be equal. A whole list of highly subjective factors will likely come into play then.
