A million views, and now they have stopped!

Hi everyone, this is only my 2nd post - so point me in the right direction if i'm doing things wrong!

I uploaded a video to youtube in 2008 and until about a year ago I was getting about 1,000 views per day. Not a massive number, but at least it was fairly consistent. About this time last year views dropped by about 90% over night!

Is there any reason this may have happened? It would be great if I could get back to where I was, or even get a few more views.

The video itself is pretty boring, but nevertheless did provide quite a lot of views!

Thanks - 89JT

As i mention in your introduction post this is due to the fact that the video is 4 years old and people tend to move on a find something new and more recent and thats what i think happen to your video

Thanks for your reply. Yeah i guess that could be it, but surely views would tail off gradually. They fell from 1000/day to about 100/day over night. I'm not sure what I can and can't say about AdSense earnings... so I will stay quiet for now!

i see what you mean, on my channel i was getting a steady amount of revenue coming in but i notice that when i didnt get on for 6 month the views on the channel went down and the revenue lowered significantly so i dont know if is something youtube does when they see the channel not active

Awesome. thanks for the link! I shall see what I can do... I guess the next step is to find something interesting to make a video about!

I will trade my soul for an annotation in the video to my channel...

How about it eh? I'm sure Satan would accept.

:p

I'm wondering if I need to change the title. Is there any tool to use which would tell me what people are searching for to watch my video?

I've changed it a couple of times in the last few months and haven't seen any real change
