A few technical questions...

I accidentally invented a catchphrase.
Hey guys, I've got a few questions about a couple of different things... So I'll just get right to them!

1) I've searched on google and a few other places but there aren't any decent concise answers... Can you recommend a cheap-ish camera which has an external microphone input?

2) And on a related note... Can you recommend a decent quality microphone for use with the aforementioned camera?

And finally number 3) Should I just save up then splash out for a macbook pro in one fell swoop? Or just pay for it in installments for the next 4 years and get it right away...?

Any help/general advice/relevant opinions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Depends, most if not all actual video cameras come with mic inputs and just about any mic works with it. As for recommendations remember cheeper the camera the lesser the quality it is. A good range to look at is 250-600$ for a good video camera and i would recommend Canon. If you think your going to need it i would get the macbook and pay the installments. Also a tip from my personal experience try and get quality equipment at one time instead of getting half quality equipment because its cheaper. If it means waiting longer for the extra $ to get the equipment i would do that. Thats just my opinion it really all depends on how badly you need the stuff.

If you are wanting a good quality one and cheap however not a big camera like a DSLR, dry out cibershot digital cameras from soney. they are amazing, my mum has one and it's more aswome than my DSLR.
it's very light and portable and easy to carry arround it pockets. it's perfect for vloggers, the quiality is way better than a flip cam.

here is the link to the other cibershot compact cameras http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/cyber-shot-digital-cameras/range/compact

If you are looking for good and cheap I recomend this one http://www.sony.co.uk/product/dsc-w-series/dsc-w620 it has 14 mp and is 79 pounds

I see you want to buy a MacBook pro. First off, I wouldn't pay it off in installments. Imagine it got stolen/broken after a few months... You still would have to pay for a computer you don't own. Secondly, why a Mac Book pro? I don't want to start the Mac vs Pc debate, but you would be better off buying a desktop pc with way better components.

The reason I want a MacBook pro is that my college filmmaking course uses Mac and Final Cut for all the course work, and if I use the same systems it's way more convineient for me! And this way I can take it around with me instead of only using the college computer suite on the scheduled days my class has access to them! And don't worry about starting MacVsPC with me! I don't care either way!i just go for whichever seems most convineient at the time!

Try the Canon Vixia. They are affordable and very highly rated. I have one and I really like it.

I had a look at the Vixia HF G10 and damn does it look good! I've been leaning towards getting a Canon for a while, this might just be what clinches it! High end of the amateur spectrum that's for sure! Mega thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah that makes sense. Good on you about the Mac vs PC thing.

For number 3:
If you do end up going with the finance option, don't do anything longer than 2 years. Beyond 2 years and you could easily end up in a situation where you are making repayments with interest on equipment that is no longer 'awesome' but getting dated.

As far as I'm aware the new MacBook Pro's are basically non-serviceable/non-upgradeable, so it's something to keep in mind. I don't think you can even change the battery anymore.

Just my two cents :) Best of luck.
