I have used Final Cut for a long time and I honestly don't like version X. So I have stuck with version 7 for now.
But, there are a couple quick audio tips I thought I would pass along.
1. FCP doesn't like mp3 audio. Something in the rendering process causes occasional pops or clicks.
This doesn't happen with every file, but it does happen with most.
So for the best audio convert your mp3's to aiff, or wav before adding to a project. Audacity does a great job at this, or you can use Quicktime.
2. When chopping up your clips you may find the occasional pop when where the cuts meet.
This is normal if the waveforms match up weird. So you can fix this very easily.
I have a 1 frame 0db audio transition set as the default audio transition.
Once you are done editing select all the clips and under the Sequence menu then select Add Audio Transition. This will add a 1 frame transition to each cut and the pops will be gone.
Let me know if you have any questions about this and happy editing! <3
