A Clarification on Copyright!

Gunnishone

I've Got It
Hello!

Basically I want some clarification on copyright, and what is deemed "fair-use".

So I'm looking back at some of my older videos and I'm noticing that some songs I used in the background of my gaming videos may be copyrighted songs and I used them without permission, what should I do about this?

Nothing has happened yet (the auto song detector thing hasn't detected it) but should I just delete all the videos that have copyrighted music in them, in-case someone reports my videos? Or can I someone mute them on YouTube or de-monetize them, will that prevent me receiving a copyright strike?

And how can I tell if a song is copyrighted or not, I always tried my best to make sure the songs I used weren't copyrighted, but I think I may have used a couple of copyrighted songs by accident.

Please reply ASAP!

Thanks,
~ Gunnishone

EDIT: I've actually privated all of my videos just in-case someone tries to report me, I'll un-private them once I've made sure nothing is copyrighted.

Every song is copyrighted under law, anything you used that wasn't royalty free or songs that you used even though you had no permission, is infringing.

What about if I used a song in an intro for less than 10 seconds, is that still not allowed?

Length doesn't matter, if you didn't create it yourself or acquire the necessary rights, you're technically infringing. Will you got a copyright strike by using 10 seconds of that song, who knows.

Hmmm, okay.

There's this one song I'm unsure about called "Virtual Riot - Idols (EDM Mashup)", I've used it before and I'm not sure if it's copyrighted or not! If you search it on YouTube there is soooo many people that say it is not copyrighted, but I just want to make sure that it is definitely not copyrighted.
