3D Extrudtions (After Effect Question)​

Is there anyway to extrude a transparent PNG file in after effect. I have this logo and I wanted to make it have depth and then animate it turning so you could see the light hitting certain part of it and what not. Issue I'm having is that ever tutorial that I have watched is saying that you can only extrude shape and text layers... so is all hope lost for me. I know you can convert vector from illustrator into shape files but I don't have illustrator, thought I do sorta know how to use it. I have a SVG file but AE seem like it doesn't want to take it. Please help.

I would recommend using Cinema 4d as there are a few videos on what you are trying to do. Also I don't think you can get around importing from illustrator. But I am sure everyone knows how you could obtain it nudge nudge wink wink

The other option you could try is creating a 3d object of your logo from scratch in the program.

Thanks I'm going to try out Cinema 4d some day. I have illustrator at school but I to lazy to go to school now that the semester is over....
