shotgun mic

Just curious how many of you have a DSLR/Mirrorless setup and use a shotgun mic, and how many of you choose to use a Lavalier for recordings. I'm looking at videos in the future, and can't decide what I'd rather use.

Right now I'm using a Blue Snowball for our videos but I'd like to upgrade. I was considering a shotgun mic but I was thinking a lavalier mic would be better since there are two of us and we sometimes are farther away from the camera. What do you all think? And are there any cheap, like dirt...
