Hello guys, globdom here. I have recently seen people's accounts being suspended or even terminated because of this issue. Do you make gameplay videos? If you are looking for a great way to earn money, join the youtube partneship program and click monetize, it's that simple! - Wrong. You will get a copyright infringement suspension. I am warning you guys not to monetize without FULLY reading the terms and conditions and copyright policies of that game. Many gamers make the mistake of monetizing their videos without knowing half the story. You must have a gaming partnership to earn revenue from your gaming videos. Without the partnership, you cannot earn any money from them. There are some exceptions though. I believe in Mimecraft's copyright policies, they allow recording of gameplay videos. I'm 90% sure you can monetize those videos although I wouldn't take chances without knowing all of the information. You receive 3 strikes and then you are out. I am advising you guys not to monetize without a gaming partnership but the rest is in your hands. Thanks for reading, -globdom

Basic knowledge for someone that knows about copyrights. If you have permission in written form from the developers of the game that you can upload and what not (similar to what The Loadout Team sent me with my beta key..) then you cannot be infringed for copyright. YouTube is very tricky, in my opinion, but there are ways around the policies.

This is why research is essential. Google is an amazing tool. You can easily find the game's website and search there. Good that you point this out though.

Just to note - it doesn't matter if you monetize or not. It matters if YouTube notices your illegal behavior. When you monetize, they're more likely to notice.

FALSE.

STOP POSTING "INFORMATION" IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!

Roughly 80% of gaming videos posted on YouTube are posted under Fair Use law. Look it up!

The rest are posted under agreements that allow monetization. The vast majority of these agreements anyone has access to: some developers allow ANYONE to monetize their games (Mojang, Valve, and Riot are some well known examples). Being in a network has nothing to do with it in almost every single case.

Short list of facts:
  • Monetized vs Not Monetized are, functionly if not legally, equal. Doesn't matter if monetized or not.
  • LEgally, networks have nearly nothing to to do with it. They simply offer more protection if you do get into trouble.
  • Look up the developer's rules for the game you play.
  • Don't trust stupid forum posts. Including mine. Do your own research and confirm it.

Sorry buddy, but you have some of your facts wrong there. Firstly, you don't HAVE to have a gaming partnership to earn revenue from your gaming videos. I really have no idea where you got that from. Secondly, Minecraft's videos are 100% monetizable. Do you research and look around. I know you're trying to help, but please don't post things that you think might be right when you're actually not. You really don't HAVE to have a gaming partnership just to monetize your gaming videos... lol. You can still make money from playthroughs/walkthroughs with/without commentary as long as the gaming companies policies don't change and they suddenly decide to clamp down on you.

Sorry, but this is b******t. If you get flagged for copyright then you're doing something wrong, because showing commented game footage IS considered fair use and should not get you a strike at all. If you use the footage including the cutscenes or large parts of the soundtrack you are taking a risk and you CAN get flagged for that. But not for using game footage in general. Do your research before you say something. There are hundreds of peoples who make a small living posting nothing but game footage.

Ok, well sorry guys for getting my information wrong. May I request a moderator+ to remove this thread as it is of no use to many.
