Youtube Partnership or other?

What did you guys do, when you decided to monetize did you become a YouTube partner or did you Go find a partnership somewhere else?
 
I monitored my first video as soon as I so loaded it.
But I heard it's better to monitize it when you are able to connect with google adsense and get a partnership.
But it doesn't matter too much.

There was this limit we had to reach for google to accept you to be partnered. You have to get few thousand views and have no tickets.
