Youtube auto enables "Overlay in-video ads"

HightLink

Posting Mad!
I have a problem, I had only "Overlay in-video ads" enabled on my videos becase the other two options just kills my views (they drop with more than 40%) and today I click to one of my videos and I see that "TrueView in-stream ads" is enabled, so I checked out and it was enabled on all my videos. It's the second time that it has happened to me. I'm pretty sure that I have no third party matched content. So I send a email to fullscreen suport and I get this respond.
"YouTube will err on the side of making money off of the content uploaded to its platform by partner channels. There isn't much that can be done but to disable the other ad types when that occurs."

So.. in other words, youtube auto enables "Overlay in-video ads" to earn more and all you can do its disabled that option manually to every single video when they get enabled? WTF?!:banghead2:

I was replying to a comment today on one of my shortest videos. It is less than a minute long. I thought that I would double-check the ad settings because I only want banner ads on that video. I don't want the viewer to have to sit though an ad for such a short video.

Well, sure enough, at some point, it had been switched to a video ad format. It is MY channel and the decision on which ads to allow should be MINE!

Yeah, I guess that making money is more important for youtube now that it's owned by google :(

That response is a load of crap. YouTube doesn't auto-enable or force-enable any ad types. The network can do this via their CMS though. BBTV used to do it all the time, even when I would turn the unskippable ads off, they'd be back on within a week. It's pretty damn shady for Fullscreen to try to blame YouTube for it. They can also force claim videos you leave unclaimed.

I agree. Unfortunately, part of the network agreement is that they manage the ads, which means they have all of the control.

That sucks :banghead2: And I still have the contract until 2015 I think..

Ultimately, it's one of those things that prove networks don't care about the audience growth of a channel beyond revenue. They're looking at short term gains by force enabling all ads, even though in some situations that drives viewers away. :(

Maybe I can get partner directly with Youtube after the contract with the FullScreen but I'm afraid that they will ask a lot of questions about the copyrights

Fullscreen... Unfortunately, part of the network agreement is that they manage the ads, which means they have all of the control.

I had specific language added to my contract that stated while Fullscreen has the right to manage the ads, I am the person who decides which videos get which ad formats. If FS is changing my settings, we are going to be having another chat.

I have no way to prove that it is them changing the settings. However, as someone well versed in Adsense, I have never once had YouTube change a setting on me. It seems an odd position for YouTube to start doing that for network partners, but nobody else. heh

But, is there a way to change the ad setings once for all the videos?
