Which Ad Formats Make the Most Money?

I was watching a video about audience retention and in it he goes to his analytics page and the video he is viewing has 1300 views total and it says he has made $6.35 over the lifetime of the video, I have several videos with about 1500 views and they have all made about $3.00 lifetime, so I am wondering why he has made twice as much as me and what am I doing wrong? The partner who made the video has 3800 subscribers just about the same amount that I have.

The only thing I can think of is I have the wrong ad formats checked I currently have all 3 checked (Overlay In-Video Ads, TrueView In-Stream Ads and Standard In-Stream Ads) which should I check to make the most money?

In my opinion, the overlay IN-video ads and the TrueView In-stream ads make the most money. But actually it really depends on the people who are paying YouTube. Its the cpc that counts!

Yeah, it depends on your contract, your cut and your partnership. Some networks have ad teams to get you better ads. CPM is important and I'm not sure about the format, but I just tick all of them ^_^

Standard in-stream ads will pay the most this is what Google states followed by True-view. Also that guy probably has a high CPM.

From the research I've done it looks like most partners have all 3 checked (Overlay In-Video Ads, TrueView In-Stream Ads and Standard In-Stream Ads) Is there anyone here who do not have all 3 checked?
