When to begin partnering/monetization?

So I've been doing my homework on partnering, networking, monetization etc etc. In fact I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the community of these forums as this has been my main source of information in recent weeks, so thank you!

I've had my channel for many many years but only since very late December '12 have I even thought about taking it seriously in the slightest. My channel is on 130 subscribers, and pulling in 200 views a day. I was wondering when is the right time to think about partnering with a network, amongst other related things. I realise I could have gone in long ago with someone like RPM or ATV but I've been patient and biding my time waiting to build a better picture up in my head.

I'm aware of how networks take their pay from my cut from Google, but the extra exposure my channel would receive would hopefully outweigh the paycut(or rather, I'm aware that I'm effectively paying for my brand to be linked with an established name), at least that's how I've got it worked out in my head.

Anyways, I'll shut up now. I've got other questions but let's see how this goes first, I've got faith in the community that I won't even need to ask any further questions!

Hi, first of all not to be rude but on your most popular video why have you disabled public stats? As for networks taking a % from what you make, if you go with a network that has a higher CPM than adsense (most good networks will get you higher CPM's than adsense) you will make back the % loss by having higher adverts. It is also worth noting that by social blade stats you are receiving far higher than 200 views per day , closer to 800 a day.

My most popular vid is something I made when I was younger, placing Bleach footage to a Linkin Park song and just somehow gained views over the years. Maybe I should just delete the old content I've got hidden away from public eyes?

Hooray! I love to hear that.

At your size, no network is going to promote you at at all in any significant manor. Seriously. Yeah.

To use the example of RPM (Social Blade)... they will automatically and randomly put a video of yours on social blade site embeds occasionally... imagine how many views those completely untargeted videos get.

I had a friend recently with TGS (300,000 views per month min, he is roughly 400k) and he asked to be released from his contract because their "promotion" apparently consisted of 2 shoutouts on FB and Twitter over the course of several months. Hip, hip, hooray... :(

Hub channels and such are reserved for larger guys typically. Any other promotion is merely that which you create yourself (including colabs, social media, and other outreach)

Flammy so basically, their cut goes towards... [scratches head] they make it easier to monetize videos, then?

cut goes towards... the pocket.

Which leaves:
  • possible copyright protection (if they feel like it, still better than without a network, just not all networks operate equally)
  • partner features (banner, shows, etc)
  • "support"
  • "promotion"
(Sarcastic quotes included)

Personally I didn't first partner until this last week... I am getting 1.2 million views per month. AdSense for the win.

All this just makes me wonder what the ruddy point is... xD Well if I might direct another question in your direction Flammy, what made you hold off for so long? Surely you're in a position now whereby you can go it alone?

As for other features, well I already have the banners, custom video thumbnails etc(have done since last year) so really, I'd be getting *some* copyright protection and that's about it from the sounds of it...
