Video Format Qustion :D

Azwolop

I'm Trippin'.
Well so far on my channel I have been wanting to release montages, short snappy and hopefully entertaining play throughs of certain games. Due to the fact that I did not want to fill my channel with multiple videos of a walkthrough if they were all to only have 4 views each..

This has been workin well but I only just uploaded a video of me playing the game SLENDER. And was unable to cut it down because the game is all about suspense.. After making that though I am curious as to whether or not Viewers, as well as the users here would prefer watching 10 minute videos of the entire game, over a short montage that cuts and highlights the main features..

I have jut finished playing another game and am quizzed on whether or not I should upload it as an entire cut or shorten it down..

So opinions would be greatly appreciated! :D

(and sorry if this is in the wrong section...)

In my personal opinion, walk-through's should be STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. All comments should be related to the walk-through at hand with only occasional jokes and comments here and there. The main focus is the walk-through. If I may give my two-cents, this is not a commentary of two people going against each other (ie. Starcraft 2 videos). With that said, the walk-through should be the full length. Your intro was way too long for this video... in fact, it's not even needed. Get right to the point. Talk more about the game... say why this portion is difficult... or where people will miss out certain treasures here and there... or what to expect or prepare for for the next part of the game. I do have to give you credit for doing this on certain occasions... but you tend to wander off trying to be funny. At least that's the vibe I got. It seems you are trying a little too hard to be funny. Know what I mean? In a walk-through, I'm not looking for comedy... although, you can allow your personality to shine so long as you are staying focused to the purpose of the video.

The problem about this game is that it's so darn boring to look at. And it's such a slow game. I mean, the guy can't even run! I would recommend listing out the main objectives of the walk-through right from the beginning and then going point by point so that it's well organized. For people actually needing this guide, they will go back to it again and again... and the easier you make it "browsable", the more appealing it is for your viewers and more likely they will search your other walk-through's.

For one, I'd like to generally point out that someone giving the advice of 'Sticking to the point' should try an do it themselves. I asked for an opinion on the layout of my videos, not for your opinion on 'me trying to hard to be funny' or the subject of the games I play. All you generally needed to post in reply to my question was surely, 'In my personal opinion, walk-through's should be STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. All comments should be related to the walk-through at hand with only occasional jokes and comments here and there.'

It's obvious you're a fan of voicing your opinion and I obviously am at fault for declaring my videos as 'Walk-throughs' when they are more aimed at a general factor of me playing a game and trying to make my reaction funny. But back to the matter at hand, I wished for an opinion on whether a viewer would prefer seeing a shorter, snappier montage of comedic events, or the entire video in which i produced so that they are able to feel the tension build as much as I did playing it at the time.

Bro, not here to bash anyone. I re-read your post above and it still seems like you are wanting opinions. So I gave it. This thread, after-all, is about giving feedback. I try to be as thorough as I can. You say you wanted an opinion for your layout... yet, you also mention you want help with getting more views. I added more feedback to try and help out in that regard. Again, I would like to mention that I am not here to point fingers in a negative way.

Let me try again. If you want a walk-through, keep your clip long and to the point. If you want to make a one-off video of the game you are playing, then you are basically making a video to almost promote the game. In that case, make short montages and be creative to show your love for the game.

I fail to see how I was accusing you of pointing the finger, simply replying with how I felt too.. I myself admitted I was at fault for claiming my videos were Walk-throughs, because they are not, and I also fail to see how I was asking for help on views, or anything other than whether short videos would be preferred over long ones..

I'm fully aware on the factors and effects needed to make such things, with walkthroughs it is common sense, and if I came off in an argumentative way I apologize, I was simply questionative of your input as you seem to be commanding what to do, rather than giving advice, you may want to calm that down man haha.

But no, I'm not trying 'too hard' to be funny, playing such an intimidating game forces you to nervously speak, which I was doing, and while your opinion on the game again had little to nothing to do with what I was asking, Your second attempt at inputting was much more effective.

Thank you.

Lol, I definitely am not trying to be "commanding". Apologies there. But notice I start off with, "In my personal opinion". Only reason I felt you took offence to what I said is by you mentioning how I should take my own advice. That right there sounded like you were offended. Yeah, I tend to be a little more real than play the super nice guy. Having said that, I'm not trying to be a super mean guy either. Just telling it how I see it straight off the bat. No sugar coating. I find these kind of reviews a little more helpful than beating around the bush, don't you think?

Yeah, it seems I misread your request... although, I still find it confusing. Regardless, if it's something as specific as you mentioned, perhaps a pole question would have been better. It seems, after-all, wordy opinions is not what you're after... you just want 10 minute walk-through? Or short montage?
