Uploading ROME 2: Total War?!

I've Got It
If you didn't already know, Rome 2: Total War will be released september 3rd on steam.

I'm really looking forward to this game and my plan is to upload let's plays & commentaries of it on YouTube as soon as it's released.

I don't intend to monetize the videos since I'm not partnered with a network.

Is it safe for me to upload these videos or can you expect CA or SEGA to copyright strike videos like this?

SEGA can be a bit of a grey area, some people are absolutely fine at uploading their games but then others like BlacklightDemon get it third party matched almost straight away. Its always best to email them and ask before doing it, monetizing or not you still don't own the content :(

emailing sega will do you no good, seriously unlikely you'll even get a reply, best bet is just to upload it and if they claim third party on it, either live with it or take it down :)

Not quite true, I've emailed quite a few large game companies and received responses. Always best to try in my opinion :)

Fact of the matter is that the developers would be entirely in their right to claim the video. So if you're going to do a let's play for a game that has only just been released, expect to see it claimed almost instantly.

Copyright strikes are a different matter. You shouldn't get a copyright strike since commented game footage is technically fair use. But it's a huge grey area and just because you shouldn't get a strike doesn't mean you won't.

I generally wouldn't advice uploading game footage when a game is only released a few days if your goal is to monetize. Especially from companies known to hate YouTubers like Sega.
