If a series that is meant to have a definitive conclusion (e.g. a let's play or a season-by-season analysis of a TV show that isn't on anymore) isn't getting high enough CTR or high enough average view duration, is it okay to discontinue the series before its conclusion before moving on to hopefully greener pastures, or would that actually hurt my channel's ability to develop a clear sense of branding?

Personally I would finish it...but... You could always do a more abbreviated finish than you had planned.
