Seasonal trends??

UhoohExtra

I Love YTtalk
As I'm only one year into making content on youtube I wanted to learn from you guys and ask your observations on any of the following around xmas time:
1. Do you start getting more views again on your old videos that have a winter or xmas theme?
2. Particular content that does well this time of year?
3. Best time to upload in order for your video to be well indexed to exploit traffic end Dec?

Any other thoughts?
Thanks

i dont do anything that style, or false titles or tags etc :D i get views if i get when downloading video, if not, its ok :D also never im not uploading someones old video and edit it bla bla :D

Looking a this from a consumer perspective. I think a trend you will start seeing is people searching for different types of products, especially electronics. A lot of people start searching for gift ideas and deals floating around Thanksgiving / Black Friday and Christmas. I am relatively new to YouTube and I do not have stats to back this up but there has to be more activity online as people get more days off during the holidays.

If your video is ranking or in a co-watch circle of suggested videos you will get views again on your old videos
- Solution (Try boosting the traffic to the video and if the video are engaging you will bounce back and start getting views)
co-watch circle
2. Particular content that does well this time of year?
Try something related to Halloween
3. Best time to upload in order for your video to be well indexed to exploit traffic end Dec?
It all depends on the number of viewers you get to your video in the first 24 hrs and how long the viewers watch your video.
Any other thoughts?
Well Those are my thoughts

It really depends on the video, I have made videos that are holiday themed, some videos did well some didn’t. I’ve had holiday themed videos that got more views when that holiday is over.

I am still less than a year in as well, but I did a couple video's last winter that were defiantly winter seasonal. one of them was on making a home made heater for my bobcat skid steer and the other was on a cab enclosure for the same skid steer.

they have never been huge view video's but last winter they got a pretty consistent 20-30 views per day, when summer rolled around it dropped off to 1-2 views per day some days no views. now that its starting to get cold again im seeing that 20-30 views per day again.

it was also kinda funny that I had noticed last winter whenever you would see on the news about a big snow storm anywhere in the country I would see a rise in views on those video's a lot of people use there skid steers in the winter time for snow removal myself included witch is not very pleasant in a skid steer without a cab enclosure or heater.....lol

Guess the easy way is to rename all your clips like "christmas 2018 edition" unboxing or testing! Hehehe! :D :p

Just kidding.

"Rewind" videos seem to be in the rise, funny or extreme or whatever, actually i am already assembling one for myself. Seemed a good idea.

Else you might want to make a post-seasonal clip on whatever your interests are. You can start testing or unboxing things with a minimal background setup of christmas lights and title accordingly. What a cool gift for... kind of thing. You can schedule upload later if you think it is still too early for that. Eitherway Youtube will grab it and might push it might not...

:)

Edit: i see this new trend "is (product) still good for (year)?" you might want to retest some things in a new video.

at Vidcon - I met some large channels that would upload more videos through out December. A lot of people have vacation in December so I guess the idea is that they are more likely to see it, but Holidays seem to be less views. My guess people are with family and not at their computers.

I heard from larger content creators that people are more likely to watch videos during work hours, because of procrastination

According to some famous youtubers, Veritasium, the new 2018 Youtube algorithm doesn't prompt older videos as much (even older than 3 days old)

Also, a friend (who use to work and run stats for a large channel) told me videos get less views if uploaded on Wednesday. (but that was back in 2013/2014 so take that with a HUGE grain of salt.
