Because stretching your content is the best way to make it full screen...
This is a bad tutorial dude. Stretching makes videos look horrible. If you want to give people advice, tell them to record and render their footage to a proper 16:9 format (720p or 1080p). That is like video making 101, if you can't even do that you have no business on Youtube TBH.
