I draw all the thumbnails myself!
When I first started YouTube I had this idea of making my own thumbnails drawn in paint that look purposely stupid (Like the Gooby memes...) just because I thought it was funny...
I didn't want to make some over-done bad looking thumbnail in photoshop and wanted the thumbnail to represent the video well.
I try to brand myself with purple with green which is why I have the background as purple and the little episode box as green... The box also contains my "pixel logo" which I use as a "#" when naming the episode number.
I wanted each image in the thumbnail to be a small simple picture that represents the video properly, sort of like an app design for an iPhone... Keeping it simple, for example with the Chulip thumbnail...
Sadly, paint isn't good enough to make thumbnails with, even bad ones... So now I use GIMP.
But the thumbnails are getting worryingly good now... I think the minish cap thumbnail looks too good and it isn't clear that the thumbnail is intentionally bad... Instead it looks like a failed attempt at making a GOOD thumbnail.
Just let me know what you think about:
1) The idea... Drawing your own thumbnails in paint good or bad?
2) The thumbnails... Funny or lame?
3) Colors... Any opinions on this?
And yes, I know what people will say... "Would be better to have individual thumbnails for each video". Simply put, I'm not into YouTube for money or fame or anything... If I'm not having fun making YouTube videos then I won't bother with my channel... And making a fresh thumbnail in paint every single day is certainly not my idea of fun...

Ouch too much purple O_O but other then that they look pretty good! it gives them a more cartoon look!
 
That hurts my eyes no offence. It's just a pain to look at xD Didn't see what was on it sorry :oops:
 
I make all my thumbnails as well, but you might want to start adding the purple in a more subtle way. Just keep it themed based and not just the entire background :).
 
Not too much purple for me I think the whole scheme helps your vids pop out. Your thumbnails are certainly... Unique. I like unique, and with that colour scheme I don't think anyone will accuse you of going tryhard so don't be self conscious about that
 
Purple seems OK to me, I like the hand made drawings as it gives it a more personalized look and shows how much effort you put into your channel. Keep up the good work Snitman but no offense but I read the "n" in your name wrong at first. :p
 
way to much background colour, maybe add a gradient to change it up, I like the drawings they're pretty cool.. but that doesn't mean to have to draw or fill the background, you could always get a picture from the game for your background :)
 
I like the idea of drawing everything yourself, but tone down the background color, whether it be purple or if you choose to use another color. Use a lighter color or if you edit it in photopshop or something, make the background ~50% transparent. You want the focus to be on the image and text, not the background. Other than that, having it all be drawn gives your channel a uniform look, I like it.
 
I like them; people should find a way to create TN's that are unique to them, and you seem to have done that.
