Partnership - When, Where and Why

InstantFraps

Now Partnered with Exposure
This has probably been done before, or is located somewhere else, but I'm going to put it up anyway. Quite a while back, RPM dropped its daily view requirements to practically (actually I'm pretty sure it's exactly) 0. I received an email from them an instantly wanted to sign that contract. But after looking closer, I realised that it was a 50/50 split (I'm not really fussed about money at the moment, but that's still ridiculous!), and the worst part was that I would be locked in with them for 2 years! So if I did get big enough to make a substantial amount of money, I would only get half!

And that got me thinking, why would anyone want this? Sure, you have the ability to a banner, as well as a bunch of sounds and music, but still, why!? So why should you join a network? Money? Features? I'm guessing that it would be different if you were big enough to earn thousands of dollars. But what if you didn't? Why would you want to join a network?

And even if you want to, what is the perfect time to join one, or even thinking of joining one? I've heard it should be at least 100 daily views, but then other people have said 1000 daily views? So what is it?

And who's the best network to join? What's the difference between a network that requires 500 daily views to one that requires 1000 that has the same pay split? Do you get more, or at least SOME exposure? So when is the perfect time to join a network? And at that point, which network to choose? And why would you choose that network?

Haha yeah I've seen that list before. But It doesn't actually say the benefits of partnering. Or if it's a good option for you (Could be a req of 250 daily views, but it could be a 50/50 split)

RPM actually realized they had made a big mistake and has since raised the requirements. I don't remember if it's sitting at 34 views per day or is back up to 84 like in the past. Definitely not 0 anymore. I think they also scrapped the 50/50 contract now as well.. not 100% sure on all that..

Really now a days there is no difference between networks.. aside from the split and contract length, you're just looking at how fast and helpful the support is. After that you just want a Network specialized in whatever content YOU make... so all the general networks who accept anyone in my opinion are just in it for the same reason soooooooooooo many others are... money... :/

In terms of exposure... if you think of how many channels get partnered now a days there is no way sir johnny 90 views per day is going to get much exposure among the 50,000 other partners even if they did a spotlight for one partner a day..

If your channel is big enough to have specialized help and contract negotiations then chances are you can partner and negotiate with whoever you want and get the best deal possible.

Thanks man, thats the sort of stuff I was after! I did hear somewhere that RPM raised the requirements, but I didn't know about the 50/50 split. Thanks :)[DOUBLEPOST=1368684789,1368684572][/DOUBLEPOST]

Haha I just went to the RPM website, and went through the partnering process. It says that I currently don't have a high enough daily view count (Mines at 85 atm) (YES! they raised it, but s**t, that's embarrassing.. :/)

Benefits of partnering are very, very few especially for small channels. I don't recommend channels partner before they are AT LEAST 10,000 monthly views. Ideally 100,000 monthly views.

Last I heard RPM had gone to around 34 views per day with their s****y 50-50/2 year contract. IF anyone has an update, let me know.

As for networks, that is largely true for the smaller ones. As you hint, the higher end ones can get very unusual with crazy support. More info here: yttalk.com/threads/i-just-got-partnered-i-did-my-research-have-you-done-yours-guide-advice.52842/

I just checked by going through the partnership application process. I have 85 daily views and I was rejected

The fact that this button appears means the requirements are currently 85 or less. They might not have liked some music or something on your channel and rejected you for that reason.
