Partnership for growing a channel instead of "Best Contract/CPM"

I've Got It
*I apologize in advance for writing so much. I just like giving FULL thoughts on things vs vague descriptions.

I mean for this topic to be different from the standard... Basically, most people ask "what is the best network" in terms of money, cpm, % split, best for gaming, etc. I'm wondering more about growth and from a strategic standpoint...

Naturally you would think of partnering with a network of your specialty. I for one was thinking of N4Gtv.. but looking them up they don't seem very noticed or have many people (from what I could tell). They might be informative for how to run a gaming channel and be able to monetize and more focused.

However, Applying for RPM (via Socialblade) or say Creator X (Fullscreen) both seem to have better communities. Even though they don't cater to a specific genre, it seems like you would be able to grow better with them. RPM (via Socialblade) seems to be big because they were the first to really lower the standards and accept more people. Creator X (Fullscreen) is very similar now.

Here's where the second part comes in. With such a big community for both it almost seems like you could get swallowed up and lost in the amounts of people.

I know usually the consensus is "Networks are for enabling features/monetizing and helping you manage your channel, not to help growth", but it would make sense to have a community in the network that would definitely aid in growing. I could be completely wrong and there is no community aspect in most Networks and that's why everyone enjoys yttalk so much (for the community aspect)

Now for the big question.. Throwing CPM and %'s out the window and not caring about money, but growth instead... Would it be better to go with a genre focused Network? or try the bigger/better known community?

Alternatively, If the only resource for growth is yourself then it wouldn't matter what network you went with because what you make will reflect your own effort.

Thoughts?

**For extra information I do have a gaming channel if you would like to base some thoughts around that. I thought it would be nice to generalize the topic though.
I want to partner with a network for a year contract to get the feel of it while I plan on growing (one way or another) during that time period so when I am more ready for the "serious" network I can have a feel for how a network works.

CPM and % of cuts does not matter to me AT ALL. I make money through other ways while making commentaries is just my hobby. I've applied to Creator X because I heard they really give you the opportunity to expand and grow, hence why I applied for it. People need to realize that unless they're getting hundred thousand views per day, they won't make enough money to pay for their wants and needs through YouTube!

Exactly!! That's why I'm trying to raise this point of what would be more (in a way) fun and helpful, than the best bang for what you can do now. Who cares if they offer you $10 per 1000 views if they can't help you as a person or channel and you only get 80 views/day..

That's why I'm debating between the socialblade rpm and creator x right now (already been accepted to both) I want to figure out which network I would enjoy more. If at all a community is involved. If not I guess it would be a coin flip.

In my opinion, judging by your subs/views:

1. Go with the Network that has licenses for the games that you want to do.
2. Go with a Network that will give you a one year deal.

You don't need to be part of a Network to actually network! Just send
people a message and ask them if they want to collaborate or whatever.

You don't have enough views to really put much time and effort into this decision.

Very good thread, I myself would also like to know the thoughts on this, so you network experts get going and starting teaching me new things!!

You can make a good wage on far less than 100k views per day with a good cpm though

Unfortunately the way I think this thread will go is that:

1) Most of the network experts are also recruiters to some network. So giving an opinion that [insert network here] is better for growing would be bad recruiting for their own network. Then everyone would just apply to that one network.

2) Anyone can lie on the internet.

That's why I tried to tier it down to rpm and creator x. There is a tier involved with network selection based off how many views you get.. where rpm and creator x is for lower, regular fullscreen and Union for Gamers would be more mid. and TGS and Maker would be higher.. but there are TONS of networks in between that low to mid range... :/

Yes, but in the meantime most people (especially on these forums) are working toward growing to get 100k views per day..

Edit: didn't mean to double post... I thought I clicked edit on my last post not quote.. -_-"

I'd say with a lot of networks out there you can make a decent living off of 30k monetized views (probably around 35-40k total views) , of course the term "decent living" is a variable so I can't speak for everyone in that regard.

I would rather have really good support than higher %. Unfortunately most networks turn support into something they say they provide, buuut... well, it definitely seems to be lacking for the most part. I mean sure, maybe they provide advice on SEO or copyright stuff, but that isn't anything you can't easily research for yourself.

Promotion? Actual growth? Even worse from what I've seen asking around. For Gaming channels the two common (and presumably most effective) methods of growth are via networking or hub channels. Networking... well most networks don't focus on this. You can always ask people if they want to colab without being in their network. Also, this is a lot less effective if you are a really small channel. Hub channels? The issue with them is many networks don't allow smaller guys to upload to them at all. Or if they do it is minor with lots of restrictions (frequency of uploads, etc)... Just look at a the normal uploads to hub channels and see how many views they typically get. You'd do better just paying for advertising from YouTube, in many cases.
