Now Monetized! But still a thumbnail issue...

So before I put up my new video, I found out that I had been accepted as a 'partner' - now I know this isn't full partnership, but it finally means that I can change my layout (links, banner etc) and the ability to make a custom thumbnail... Or does it?

I uploaded a new video, and after 20 mins, it too was reviewed for monetization and was accepted. I write all my own music for my videos, so I knew there wouldn't be any trouble :cat2: It is active and has been accepted.
However, I STILL can't change my thumbnails. I have no further option, like I've seen on my friends to make a 'custom' thumbnail. This sounds ridiculous, but it was the main reason why I wanted to become partnered: for all the tweaks and perks you don't get as a standard YouTuber. I'm gutted. I never wanted to do this for money, any money later on I receive will go on replacing equipment and to charity. Why the delay on changing thumbnails? Is that only for older partners? If so, it's not $%&?ing fair. They get to plaster adverts on my videos, the least they can do is let me pick my own bloody thumbnail, one where I don't look like a total derp. :android2:
Did anyone else have this problem? What can I do? :cry2:
 
You just have to wait about a week or two. As long as you put up a few unique and original videos, Youtube will Flip the Switch on your channel and enable Custom Thumbnails.
 
Yep what Luis said. Each of the "partner" features they are now doling out to all active users seem to be done individually and on a case-by-case basis. It doesn't seem to come as a sort of package deal. I think it was about a month from the time I started actively monetizing until I had custom thumbnails.

Keep at it, you'll get them soon™. ;)
 
I still don`t understand why YouTube is making such a big thing out of that Thumbnail Feature while at the same time allowing everyone to Monetize almost everything. It would make at least for me some sense when they allow someone to add a Thumbnail Picture too after they had already approved the Monetize Option.
 
Massive thank you to all who replied, I'm very grateful. Good to know it is 'on the way'. I've always been in good standing, I have been actively posting since July and I love doing what I do - like everyone else! Much love and thanks again! :bounce:
