Multiple Channels or Playlists to Start Out?

My channel just started up this year and so far has been gaming content. However I have a few IRL content stuff being edited and shot. Most of the IRL stuff will be based of f of what I play. For example, I play some Farming Sim game and will have a playlist showing me expanding my garden and doing building projects around my yard. I also have some tech videos coming out.

My question is when starting out is it ok to utilize different playlists for various content. So basically my channel is like a channel on TV and each playlist is a show on that channel. Or is a well focused niche important from day 1? My plans was if things do take off on some of the IRL stuff like some grilling videos I would just create new niche focused channels down the road and build a new subscriber audience off of that momentum.

I think I found what most of you are going to say from another post just a few lines below in this section. I really wasn't looking forward to managing multiple channels but it looks like it is something that needs to be done.

Can I move one video from one channel to the other and keep the analytic data?

Hi there. You may have found people giving advice about narrowing your niche on your channel(s) so multiple channels can be useful so viewers aren't confused when totally different topics come out on the channel. I personally started by uploading whatever and everything to my 1 main channel. And then eventually branched out and made a seperate one for gaming, and another one for diy fashion. Ironically on my main channel my most popular videos are the fashion ones still, but that way people who are specifically coming for t-shirt cutting tutorials, they can find them all in one place.

Something I do a lot, is strategize which videos come first in my playlists, and I cross-pollinate my channels by making playlists on each one that may include videos from the other channels, like on my main channel I have a diy fashion playlist, and the 1st video in that playlist is my most popular video from the diy fashion channel. And of course the descriptions and end cards include links to the other channels and related playlists. And then you can display multiple playlists and name the categories on the front page of your YouTube channel.

I actually just made a video about this the other day so it's on my mind still :-D I don't want to self-promo and link out on your original post, but it's one of my most recent videos "How to edit the front of your Youtube channel like a Boss" if you're interested.

Have fun! And let me know if you have any other questions I love being helpful when possible.
