Hey Guys, I just have a quick question, If I enable Monetization for YouTube Only and not enable it for my specific videos, does that mean I might have problems with future Partnerships?

I heard something about DO NOT enable Adsense, that messes with future partnerships. Is that when I click Monetize for that specific video correct? Not YouTube overall. I just want to get custom thumbnails and more. Can someone please just make it clear for me. I never had it enabled before but a few of my friends do for there custom thumbnails. Is that a problem for a future partnership?

Thank You SO MUCH! -Saigon

The thing about monetizing your videos without being in a network is not having the correct copyright and permissions yet. Many partner programs have licenses for certain video content allowing it to be monetized. As I see you do gaming videos, if you monetize some of those now it will create problems in the future if they are not completely owned by you unless you have an agreement with the game creator in written form.

If you do have all the copyright for the videos etc, then monetizing them is possible but it may be better to wait until your in a network. When you get around to joining a network it will take longer, as your adsense has to be unlinked and moved.

It affects the videos you monetize as far as I know, not the overall channel. I did something similar (I didn't know what it was before) and enabled it on my videos. I got the thumbnails and everything which is good, but I don't put monetization on my videos anymore until I get a proper network. So you could enable it for your channel and just not enable it for videos.

TLDR; If you have appropriate licenses etc then you can but might be better to wait for a network. Will take longer to unlink when you do get a partnership offer. If you haven't got the licenses then you may have to remove the video completely as you shouldn't monetize anything you don't own. Affects videos and not channel.

As far as I know, if you Enable Monetization it does not automatically enable them for the videos. You have to enable it by yourself.

If you want to get custom thumbs, you must have monetization enabled on your Youtube account.

I think you may have gotten confused between enabling monetization and actually monetizing a video. "Enabling monetization" on your Youtube account does not affect partnership applications. It simply gives you the option of monetizing videos on your account--if you wish to do so. You also do not need to have an adsense account to enable monetization

As for partnership, if you monetize a "video" without a partnership that permits you to do so or licensed permission, that can affect your acceptance for partnership. In the future, if you do become partnered, I believe you will need to create an adsense account to get paid but, don't quote me on that last bit, ha. ;)

I heard something about DO NOT enable Adsense, that messes with future partnerships.

That entirely depends on the network, some need to link adsense, some don't. Depends on how their system works, for example my network (Rebirth Media) doesn't need adsense, either does Machinima, but KonsoleKingz and TGN do.

Not at all. I've had monetization enabled for months just for the thumbnails then got partenered.
