I've Got It
What Is Maker Max & How Do I Access It?
Maker Max (central.makerstudios.com) is our web platform that hosts pretty much everything related to your partnership, including analytics insights, royalty statements, partner forums, and more. We even have a section for Support where you can search our knowledge database for answers to frequently asked questions, or submit a support ticket if you can't find a solution.
We get a lot of inquiries from YouTubers who have just partnered with Maker Gen and are trying to get Maker Max access. An automated email will be sent to you within two weeks after the partnership is complete, containing an activation link to enable your Maker Max account. We are well aware of how important it is to gain Max access immediately, and our tech team is working tirelessly to speed up the activation process. Soon partners will be able to track the status of their activation email as the process moves through the various departments until the actual email is sent. Partners often worry about not receiving this activation email, so make sure to check all of your filters and spam folders as sometimes the email gets stuck there
How & When Do I Get Paid?
The preeminent question! Maker Gen follows the same payment schedule as YouTube and most networks. Earnings are paid around a month after the monthly earning period. For instance, August earnings are paid in October. Paper checks may take longer to arrive, up until the 15th of the month, while Paypal can arrive at the end of the previous month (in this example, the end of September).
On the subject of payment, for channel partners living in the US we offer payment via paper check or direct deposit to your bank account. International partners can choose between paper check or Paypal.
Right now Maker Gen has a $50 payment threshold for all partners. Basically it means that we hold on to your earnings until they add up to $50 or more, and then we will pay you that amount in the following pay period. You can keep track of this earnings balance on Maker Max in the Royalties section.
I Already Selected A Payment Method, Can I Change It Later?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Just kidding. Yes, you may change your payment method or payment address. Just send us a ticket through Maker Max and it will get to the right people on our team. Keep in mind that changing your payment method takes time for us to process, sometimes 1-2 payment cycles, as the process involves several departments.
My Analytics Says I Made $X But I Only Received $Y
You probably know this but it bears repeating - the data on your analytics page is estimated only. That means it is subject to various adjustments before the final hard data of actual earnings is reported by YouTube at the conclusion of the month. We pay you from these actual earnings. The analytics page also shows earnings before the partner rev split with Maker Gen, so keep that in mind if you think there is a discrepancy in amounts. We provide a thorough earnings breakdown on your Royalties statements so you can see exactly what the numbers mean.
I Got A Ton Of Views, Why Didn't I Earn More?
There are so many variables that impact your earnings per view! Maker Gen does not operate on a fixed RPM rate, meaning that your earnings will fluctuate along with the YouTube advertising marketplace. Along those lines, your earnings are dependent upon an assortment of factors, surrounding both your content and your audience consuming that content, that matter to advertisers. This includes your country of residency, the type of content you create, your audience's method of viewership (YouTube watch page, mobile, embedded, etc) and audience volume. You get the idea.
If you're a Maker Gen partner, we encourage you not to spend your time bemoaning some of these variables that are beyond yours or our control. Use the resources of our network to build your audience and increase your viewership. That's the surest way to improve your earnings
Can I Add A Channel To My Account?
Certainly, and it's super easy. You don't need to apply the channel online. Just head over to Maker Max on your existing account, log in, and submit a ticket requesting to add an additional channel. If the channel is approved, we'll let you know. You will also be able to add that channel into your existing Maker Max account. How rad is that?
Why Does My Channel Need To Follow Copyright Standards?
Copyright on YouTube is a complicated beast. If you use content made by other content owners, from gameplay clips to audio samples, you are subject to the rules that those content owners decide to impose. It's generally best to create all of the content on your channel, or only use outside content that is free from copyright restrictions (like clips from Audiomicro, the sound library we provide our partners). Most gaming videos are okay, as long as you have vocal commentary throughout the video and don't use footage of any unreleased games or official trailers.
Following copyright rules is important to us at Maker Gen because we believe in the rights that creators (including you!) have over their original content. We want our network to have high quality, original content creators, not people who are just recycling someone else's hard work. YouTube may seem like it takes a hands-off approach to enforcing copyrights on the site, but it has higher standards for channels in networks. It never hurts to read through YouTube's terms of service and community guidelines if you are in doubt about whether you're allowed to post certain content.
What Happened to My YouTube Features?
Sometimes we receive tickets from partners stating that they've lost the ability to live stream, or that they are unable to upload custom thumbnails. Certain YouTube features such as these may be temporarily disabled, by YouTube, due to an account infraction like a copyright or community guidelines strike. Other times it may just be a glitch on YouTube's end. For example, for a few days in July partners were unable to view their analytics data, but YouTube quickly corrected the issue.
If something should go wrong, don't panic! Your first step should be to monitor the issue, when it started, how long it has lasted, etc. If it's been happening for a while, say one to two weeks, then feel free to reach out to us so that we can dig deeper and search for a solution.
