Little help with getting an adsense account.

I googled adsense account sense I dont have one yet. I found where to get one and I tried to sign up. When I placed my channel url in the slot it said that I dont have any monetizable content. It also told me to get the adsense through youtube. I went to my channel and went to video manager and selected my video and pressed monetize it did but I didnt see where to sign up or how to get an adsense account. Stuck here a help with this would be much appreciated.
