Linking Adsense Account with Analytics

I was checking my adsense results tonight and noticed a notification under "Optimization". I clicked on it and it tells me that I can "get detailed traffic analysis that can help you improve ad performance". Then it gives me a tab to click on and "Link your account".

Is it just a no-brainer to click on this? What does it do? Does it help get better revenue? If so, why doesn't Google just do it automatically? The better we do, the better they do also.

Anyone have any insight into this?
 
I think it does about the same thing as YouTube Analytics does for you, but this is something you can use for websites, blogs etc.
