Instant Monetization for Network Partners Ending

This is something that most networks/larger channels have known for some time, but we were all under NDA until something official came out.

Starting next month, the arrangement between YouTube and Multi-Channel Networks is going to change drastically. Networks will be held liable for any violations by their partners and will penalized financially if they rack up too many violations. To protect MCNs, they are separating their partners into two different categories: managed and affiliate. Affiliate channels are on their own when it comes to violations-the network takes no responsibility. They also face more rigorous screening for monetization, which means that any channel with an affiliate partnership will have instant monetization taken away. Managed partners retain instant monetization rights. Affiliates also get to view CPM info for Adsense partners, so you will be able to tell at a glance if your partnership is actually making you more money vs being on your own with Adsense.

There's only a few channels on this forum that would get managed partner status-most of you will be designated affiliates and your instant monetization will go away next month. Take this time to prepare and make use of the scheduled uploader to make sure your video is approved by the time you want to release it.

If you want to read more, there are articles here and here.

TL;DR version: Instant monetization for most network partners is going away next month, so get your videos uploaded early so it clears the review process by the time you want to release it.

This seem to be some serious stuff, i'm not even partner with any MCN and such but i can understand at lest that it's will be hard for partners and MCN.

I am trying to understand everything clearly right now, pretty hard since i am not even a partner and i have heard that adsense is really bad ._. ( For gamer's like like i believe )

So the MCNs pick which of the two tiers to submit channels to?

At the moment in the CMS, affiliate channels means channels which content id is auto enabled on

So in other words networks are no longer just sub management they're actually getting some proper responsibility for things they do. I can't instantly monetise anything either way as I'm not part of a network, so not sure how it affects me. But if being an affiliate means you're on your own when it comes to violations, then there is no point joining a network unless you can become managed. lol Part of the major reason I would join a network is just to be able to post walkthroughs and random moments with friends, without content ID claims. Couldn't careless about monetising now.

Hey, so apparently any partners in networks atm, won't have instant monetization taken away, it's only new affiliates coming in.

That's going to change very quickly when MCNs get penalized for infractions brought on by their partners. Do you trust your partnered channels enough to stay clean when you may be facing a big financial penalty?
