Hello,

Can someone please explain.
I heard that for video game footage, you have to add your voice in the videos. But I have been checking out this channel, and he has a lot of Skyrim footage without commentary, and there are ads in his videos. Checked on SocialBlade, he is partner with Machinima.

Some networks you dont have to which is better as more people can join them, they have to have speacial permission though. The one I am with doesnt need commentary which is great for when people cant have a commentary due to ill or whatever.
 
Generally the rule is that as long as game footage has your voice over it and the game is actually released then you can monotise it. some times videos slip through the cracks which is why you sometimes see non commentated videos with ads on

Machinima has no permission for that game.

You do need commentary, Tthe only game I know of the doesn`t is Minecraft, Just because the guy above hasn`t been caught yet, doesn`t mean you should follow his lead.

i do have commentary on all but two and that was due to being ill and then the recorder not working.
 
Networks love to ignore the rules. They allow their partners to monetize without following the rules, but the channel shouldn't, because developer/publisher can come down on them like a sack of bricks and the network won't back their channel (despite allowing you to monetize --- because they want the $$$)

This confuses me so much, I have like 7 videos that do not have commentary but I can't "unclaim" the video.
