How to Self Promote without coming off as a spam.

I've Got It
So lately I've been watching some tutorials and reading some digital marketing books of promoting content, I am still somewhat unclear with promoting content mostly I've promoted on Twitter with those shout outs retweets on twitter, however I feel very unclear with that cause I don't want to come off as needing sub for sub so how do you as other creators promote your content without making it look like spam?

I'm not really a Twitter expert so I can't comment on how to use it. But if you're looking to promote on other people's channels, I'd suggest commenting about something you liked about another person's video (With similar content as yours), then sign off as "-From a fellow gamer". That way when people see your comment, they'll see that you're also a gaming channel and come check you out.

I put "Gaming" as my part of my name so when people see me commenting, they'll automatically assume I'm a gaming channel and they'll come see my stuff (Hopefully!).

I hope that makes sense and helps! It won't come off as spam if you make it look like you're not commenting on something for the sole purpose of promoting yourself.

( Moved to the strategy / technique forum. :) )

One strategy is to write comments on channels that have videos that are similar to yours but are maybe not direct competitors. That means the channel owner is less likely to see your comment as spam.

You can write a comment of appreciation about the video that is specific about the video (that proves that you did indeed watch the whole video). Add value in your comment. Say something that contributes to a discussion. Within your comment, you can say something that implies that you also have a channel but without actually directly mentioning it.

An example could be:

Imagine you have a gaming channel. Well don't write comments on other gaming channels because they'll probably get deleted or flagged. But maybe you could find a tech review channel that has recently reviewed a headset that you use in your videos. You could perhaps thank the creator for his review and mention that you use the same headset in your videos and that you had a similar experience or that you found a cool feature of the headset. That's just an example. You need to think out of the box a bit. Your comment is likely to be approved and maybe a few people will click on your username to check you out.

Don't put any links to your videos or channel and make sure each comment you make is unique and personalised. Don't copy-paste and don't write lots of comment in a short time. Just do 3-4 per day.

Having said that - Don't waste too much time on "promotion" - The best way to build an audienc is to concentrate your efforts on making amazing videos and SEO so that people can find them in search.

Good luck. :)

You can always do the GaryVee / ClipShare method?

Take chunks of content out of your main channel. Stuff that you think people will like on twitter.

It will give the twitter audience value for free. At the same time you can link back to your channel. So you can advertise without seeing as self promotion.

Hope that helps.
